The 20-bed trauma department was established in the 1st clinical hospital, which laid the foundation for the present hospital. In 1976, it developed into an independent hospital which specialised in traumatology, and from 1991, it developed into a Clinical Traumatology Hospital.
6 doctors, led by Dash Navaantseren, who worked as the head of the hospital, were awarded the title of Honorable Mention of the State of Mongolia for successfully introducing the method of treating bone injuries with the Ilizarov apparatus into the medical practice throughout Mongolia.
An important event in the history of the center was the decision of the Government of Mongolia to name the hospital named after Dash Navaantseren, an honored doctor of Mongolia. In November 2006, by the order of the Minister of Health, it was expanded to the National Center of Traumatology and Orthopedic of Mongolia.
The center has managed the resident training course for traumatologist. We have cooperated with experts from Khokh City Hospital and WHO, Russia, Australia, Japan, Korea, USA, France, Switzerland, South Korea, and the Republic of Uzbekistan.
