  • WHAT IS HEALTH INSURANCE? Civil health insurance is a socioeconomic measure aimed at providing financial support to the insured when they face health risks. This involves the insured person, their employer, and the government paying insurance premiums in accordance with the law to contribute to the insurance fund, which is used to cover the costs of health insurance assistance and services for the insured who is exposed to risks. What types of health insurance are there? According to the law on civil health insurance, health insurance consists of two forms: mandatory and voluntary. Every citizen of Mongolia is required to enroll in health insurance. Therefore, as a citizen, you are required to insure yourself in health insurance and pay your premiums at the legally stipulated rate and within the specified timeframe. However, foreign nationals residing in Mongolia who are not engaged in any specific employment will decide for themselves whether or not to enroll in health insurance. By enrolling in health insurance, the insured is obligated to pay their health insurance premiums annually. In the case of enrollment, regardless of the premiums paid by the insured, the health insurance fund is required to share the financial risks arising from health issues faced by the insured and cover the costs of assistance and services from the health insurance fund.
